Qualified for State Archery Competition State Archery Competition

Congratulations to Maggie Glover and Nick Casada who qualifed for state archery competition after placing at regional competition.  Maggie placed 4th in her division with a 283 and Nick placed 5th in his division with a 291 after a shoot off.  Good luck at state!!!

Regional Governor's Cup MMS Academic Team

Meece Middle School recently hosted the Regional Governor’s Cup on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  Meece Middle School finished in fourth place in quick recall.  Emily Ham also qualified for state competition by finished in second place in science written assessment.  Congratulations and good luck to Emily at state!

Meece Middle School believes in developing well-rounded students and instilling the character traits that produces success in life.   The character word for January was optimism which means to be assured, certain, positive, happy in manner and always looking on the bright side and reaching for your goals. 

Wildlife Women Club @ MMS Wildlife Women Club @ MMS

The Family Resource Youth Service Center (FRYSC) Sponsored club at Meece Middle School is “Wildlife Women”.  The club is a school-based version of the Non-Profit Organization, Wildlife Women, Inc. It meets once a month and focuses on a different aspect of outdoor activities at each meeting.

Meece Middle School student, Christian Leigh, was selected to be a Legislative Page in Frankfort. 

District Governor's Cup MMS 2nd in District Governor's Cup

Meece Middle School recently hosted the District Governor’s Cup on Saturday, January 20, 2018.Meece Middle School finished in second place in quick recall and there were several individual recognitions.

Muneeb Ahmed – placed 4th in mathematics
Laney Barnett – placed 5th in arts and humanities
Aiden Corder – placed 3rd in science
Emily Ham – placed 2nd in mathematics and 1st in science
Rachel Tomlinson – placed 4th in social studies
Max Yeast – placed 2nd in social studies

Our district has selected a Student Insurance option from K&K Insurance Group to make reliable coverage available to parents. If you do not have other insurance, this plan may be a resource to consider. Additionally, even if you have other coverage, this plan can help fill expense "gaps" caused by deductibles and co-pays. Principal's Message

Welcome to Meece Middle School!


            Meece Middle School is the only middle school in the Somerset Independent School District.  We adhere to the mission of the Somerset Independent schools to create, implement, and maintain an environment which encourages all students to reach their fullest potential in school and in life.


            Meece Middle School is home to 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. We offer all basic core academic classes as well as accelerated math, science in all grades plus accelerated English in the 8th grade.  Our student elective classes include business and marketing, band, music, art, practical living, computer technology, Spanish, physical exercise and many more sub domains of career developing content.  The staff at Meece Middle School is dedicated to providing a rigorous curriculum in a student-centered, caring environment that enables all students to become productive citizens prepared to lead and serve in our community.  


            Meece Middle School holds true to the strong traditions and pride of the Somerset Independent School District.  With our strong focus on academics, we also provide the student body with various extracurricular activities including interscholastic athletics for all grades:  archery, dance, football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, track, cross country, cheerleading, golf and trap and skeet team.  Students may choose to participate in STLP, drama, academic teams, student council, technology teams, Y-Club, FCA, John Sherman Cooper Leadership program, STAR Student Program, the 21 Century Afterschool Program and over 20 additional career development clubs intentionally designed to target the specific needs and wants to our student body.
