Formative Assessments

  • Students in KG - 8th grades will participate in Measures of Academic Progress® or MAP® an online test in math and reading three times per year: September, December and March.  Information from these assessments allow teachers and schools leaders identify students who need interventions or enrichment.
  • Students from 10th to 12th grades will be taking a practice college entrance exam, an online assessment in the areas of English, math, and reading.  Data from the tests will provide teachers and students information and video lessons to increase skills linked to the Career and College Readiness Standards.

State Assessments

SAT - All 11th grade students are required to take the SAT each year in March.  The Council on Post-secondary Education benchmarks for this assessment are: Reading/Writing 490 and Math 510

KSA - 3rd-8th grade students take the Kentucky Summative Assessments (KSA) test each year within the last 14 days of the school year.  All grades take reading and math.  Other tests are given: science at 4th & 7th grades, social studies at 5th & 8th grades, language mechanics in 4th & 6th grades, and on-demand writing at grades 5, 6, 8,10 and 11.

ACCESS - English Language Learners take the ACCESS test to measure the level of English language skills.  The assessment is given in a window during January/February.

Career and College Ready Assessments - Other assessments that allow students to show readiness for college or career include CTE End of Program Assessment and KYOTE.  Not all students are required to take these assessments.  The high school guidance counselor will notify students if they are to take these tests.
